The Neurosurgery Department of National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) provides its services at Bir Hospital and National Trauma Centre. This department specializes in diagnosing and treating all sorts of diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Functioning of National Trauma Centre jump-started with the earthquake disaster of 2072. As a state-designated Level1 Trauma Center for head and spine injuries, the Department of Neurosurgery at National Trauma Centre offers 24-hour coverage for all emergency neurosurgical cases (both cranial and spinal trauma). Along with emergency trauma cases, the department encompasses management of all sorts of super-specialized services of neurosurgical cases.

We are providing regular outpatient services (OPD) on regular basis of Monday, Wednesday and Friday during workdays with 24 hours emergency services. Extended Health Services outpatients and surgical services run on Monday and Wednesday beyond the regular hours to cater to the increasing patient flow. Regular OT are scheduled on every Sunday and Thursday.
