Clinical Activities:

  • Inpatient services with 50 beds
  1. Nursing care of patients
  2. Preoperative and post operative care
  3. Daily doctor’s round
  4. Health education to patient and visitors
  5. Physiotherapy services to the inpatients
  • Counseling services and Nutritional support to burn cases with the support of the organization Burn Violence Survivors- Nepal
  • Facility of special dressing like Leukocyte Platelets Rich Fibrin (LPRF) dressing, Negative Pressure Wound therapy etc.
  • Facility of LASER Surgery
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery performed twice a week on Monday and Wednesday for elective cases, for emergency cases performed anytime as per the need
  • EHS operative services on Tuesday and Friday
  • Cosmetic procedures like scar revision, otoplasty, liposuction, dimpleplasty, blepharoplasty (upper and lower)

Academic Activities:

  • Provides learning opportunity for nursing students of different institutes.
  • In-service classes to the staffs.
  • Elective clinical placement for medical students
  • Rotations for general surgery residents
  • Clinical case & topic presentation
  • Bed side teaching & learning activities
  • Problem based learning

Research Activities:

  • Soft tissue Coverage for lower leg defects in the patient with locoregional perforator flaps
  • Profile of hand injury at the National Trauma Center
  • Case report publication

Social Services:

  • Free bed services to the poor patients
  • Financial support to burn cases under the support of the organization Burn

Violence Survivors- Nepal

  • Provision of Free diet for patients
  • Provision of drinking water for patient and visitors
  • Provision of lockers for patient and visitors

Problems and Challenges:

  • Lack of Intensive Care Unit for burn cases
  • Lack of dressing room for burn cases
  • Lack of counseling room for burn cases
  • Lack of proper area for physiotherapy of burn cases
  • Insufficient nursing manpower for providing quality nursing service
  • Insufficient cleaner staffs for maintaining cleanliness of ward

Suggestions and Recommendations:

  • Partition of burn section for infection prevention
  • Establishment of ICU for burn cases
  • Increment of nursing manpower and cleaner staffs
  • Making a separate room for physiotherapy and counseling services.
