National Trauma Center is the apex trauma center of the Government of Nepal. As a public institution, it aims to provide patient-centric timely treatment for all types of trauma victims.

Trauma is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity around the world. It claims more potential years of productive life than cancer and heart diseases do. Among various traumatic mishaps, injuries are a primary factor of death among youth. As trauma is time sensitive, the need for proper treatment has increased in the healthcare system worldwide. A well functional trauma care system reduces the likelihood of death and permanent disability. Trauma center as a part of that system, works towards resuscitation, treatment and rehabilitation care of all such patients.

We have been providing services free of cost at many instances to the underprivilaged people, who are unable to afford our nominal cost services. We aspire to provide excellent care to our patients.  I express my immense gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, paramedics and other support service staff, who have made it possible to provide such quality care to our patients.

Future Plans:

  • To start Trauma Registry system, develop trauma treatment Protocols and trauma system Research.
  • To run continuous professional development (CPD) for our healthcare workers in Basic Life Support, Primary Trauma Care, Basic Burn Care, Trauma Life Support, Trauma Intensive Care, etc.
  • To develop NTC as the national center of trauma trainings for all levels of trauma care and start fellowships in trauma surgery and trauma intensive care.
  • To establish a fully digitalized hospital management information system with the provision of online ticketing.
  • To start an Advanced Trauma Ambulance Service with high skilled paramedics inside the Kathmandu Valley.
